Shipping from China to Australia

FCL and LCL freight coordination from Chinese suppliers to Australian ports or an agreed delivery point. We compare the complete routing, identify what is included in the quote, and check cargo-specific biosecurity requirements before booking.

We reply in writing within several hours. Complex cargo, permits and carrier confirmation can require additional time before a firm quote is issued.

20GP · base ocean freight from USD 2,864 Current public market floor for selected China–Australia port pairs; origin and destination charges are separate.
LCL · base sea freight from USD 35 / CBM Excludes pickup, consolidation minimums, CFS, customs, biosecurity, destination handling and delivery.
Sea · port to port 12–40 days Indicative range across direct and transhipment services; selected Adelaide routings can take longer.

Shipment options

A routing decision, not a one-line freight rate

A useful comparison includes origin handling, main freight, destination charges and the delivery scope. The lowest ocean line item can become the most expensive option once storage, inspection or unplanned handling is added.

01 · SEA FCL

Full-container shipping

For cargo suited to a 20', 40' or 40HC container. Equipment, origin port, sailing, transhipment, destination terminal and free-time assumptions are confirmed before booking.

02 · SEA LCL

Consolidated cargo

For smaller commercial shipments. The quote separates supplier pickup, consolidation, CFS handling, ocean freight, destination deconsolidation and the agreed Australian hand-off.

03 · AIR

Urgent or compact cargo

Assessed against actual and volumetric weight, airline restrictions, battery status, packaging, airport handling and the required destination delivery scope.

Quote scope

What the shipping quote should show

We publish a dated “from” benchmark with a narrow scope, then issue an itemised quote that states validity, routing assumptions and exclusions so the buyer can compare like with like.

Stage Possible inclusions Confirmation required
Origin in China supplier pickup, export warehouse, consolidation, export handling and origin terminal Incoterms, exporter details, cargo-ready date, packing and commodity restrictions
Main carriage FCL, LCL or air freight on the agreed routing carrier, sailing or flight, equipment, transhipment and quote validity
Australia destination terminal or CFS, broker coordination and delivery if expressly quoted importer of record, customs broker, biosecurity pathway, delivery postcode and site access
Not assumed duty, GST, inspection, treatment, storage, demurrage, detention and permits only included where the quote and service order explicitly say so

Page assumptions and market benchmarks reviewed on 15 October 2026. The figures above are base-freight planning guides, not door-delivery tariffs. Capacity, schedules, charges and regulatory requirements are reconfirmed for each shipment.

Australian import readiness

Biosecurity comes before booking

Australian requirements depend on the exact commodity, materials, origin, packaging and end use. The importer or appointed broker retains the destination-country compliance role unless the contract states otherwise.

Check the commodity

Use the Australian Government’s BICON system to identify whether the goods are permitted, require supporting documents, treatment or an import permit.

Check packing materials

Timber packaging and dunnage can trigger treatment, marking and declaration requirements. Confirm the applicable BICON pathway before the cargo is packed, not after it reaches the port.

Goods that may need earlier review include food, plant or animal products, timber and bamboo, used machinery, tyres, vehicles, biological material, fertiliser, chemicals, batteries and dangerous goods.

A useful quote without invented rates

This is the structure issued after the shipment facts have been checked. It is a quote format, not a disguised historical tariff or an invented case study.

Importer questions

China to Australia shipping: essentials

How much does shipping from China to Australia cost?

A defensible quote needs the origin, Australian destination, commodity, gross weight, volume, packing, Incoterms and cargo-ready date. We then state the route, inclusions, exclusions and validity instead of publishing a false fixed rate.

Can you ship LCL cargo?

Yes, subject to cargo compatibility and route availability. LCL economics depend on chargeable volume, density, origin pickup, CFS handling, destination charges and the Australian delivery scope.

Do you act as the Australian customs broker?

Destination clearance is coordinated with the importer’s appointed licensed broker or another broker agreed for the shipment. The contracting parties and scope are stated in the written quote and service order before booking.

Can you source the product as well as ship it?

Sourcing, supplier verification, purchasing and inspection are handled as a separate scope through Mugiwara Solutions. Freight is quoted from the confirmed supplier, cargo specification and readiness plan.
